Parks
- The Portland area is home to an unrivaled
number of urban open spaces. Even in the heart of downtown,
you're sure to see more green than gray as you invariably
stumble across grassy oases. Portland's parks also boast an
incredible range in size, from the 5,000-acre Forest Park to
tiny 24-inch Mill Ends Park
Nature
Trails - In most cities, you'd have to drive
hours to reach a good hiking trail. In Portland, you can take
the city bus to Wildwood Trail, a 28-mile gravel path that winds
through the city's Washington and Forest parks. Attractions
along the trail include Hoyt Arboretum, the Japanese Garden and
the Oregon Zoo. Though Wildwood is for hikers only, Forest Park
does offer more than 50 bike trails.
