Sports & Recreation in Portland

Portland is a great place to visit for anyone who enjoys the outdoors.  Lets start with the fact that Portland has 37,000 acres of park space which makes even downtown more green than gray.  Portland also boasts because 2 of its golf courses were ranked in the nations 75 best public courses.  Outdoor recreation includes great downhill and cross country skiing, hiking, biking, and climbing where there is plenty of space to enjoy any outdoor activity.  Spectator sports are also plentiful.  The Portland Trail Blazers top the list including the WNBA, pre NHL, Auto Racing and minor league baseball.

Outdoor Recreation
Parks - The Portland area is home to an unrivaled number of urban open spaces. Even in the heart of downtown, you're sure to see more green than gray as you invariably stumble across grassy oases. Portland's parks also boast an incredible range in size, from the 5,000-acre Forest Park to tiny 24-inch Mill Ends Park
Nature Trails - In most cities, you'd have to drive hours to reach a good hiking trail. In Portland, you can take the city bus to Wildwood Trail, a 28-mile gravel path that winds through the city's Washington and Forest parks. Attractions along the trail include Hoyt Arboretum, the Japanese Garden and the Oregon Zoo. Though Wildwood is for hikers only, Forest Park does offer more than 50 bike trails.
